Still in the land of the living...

I must apologize. I really don't have time to sit at the computer now, much less compose a long, involved journal entry. So, let's play a bit o' catch up:

Tuesday I had my "women's diagnostic" work done. Okay, a bone density test and a mammogram. Yep, I had 'em squeezed practically flat. I'll get the results next week when I have the dreaded annual. You ladies know exactly what I mean by that statement! ;-)

Today I had to take our Aged Relative to the doctor. I think we may be seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, and it's not a train! This is the wound care deal. I'm sure I've talkd about that so I'll spare you the details. But the news is very good.

While I was down in Dallas I hit the local Target to see if they had any Tiki guys on clearance. They didn't, but they had a really cool table top Tiki fountain marked way down, so I picked that up. He saw it at our local Target on the first day of school. It was on sale, but it hadn't been marked down much and he felt the price was too high and decided to pass, even though I offered to buy it. When I saw the price today it was just too good to pass up.

After Target I went to Half-Price Books to browse. It was one of those situations where I had a little free time, but not enough to justify digging into something. By the time I'd made it home, changed my clothes, and had a little food, I might have had a half hour if I was darned lucky. So I just threw caution to the wind and browsed the bookstore. Life can be so rough sometimes. I did buy a mystery that I'd missed when it came out several months ago. Even if I hadn't purchased a thing, it wasn't a wasted trip. I didn't realize how much I needed to get away and get my mind on something else.

Home for ten minutes, then I grabbed Chris and took him to the Target across town. No Tiki guys there, but he did buy a $1 Tiki cup and some pencils for school. We stopped at Whole Foods on the way home. South Beach is really the best diet I've tried in terms of variety of food, but it's still easy to get bored. My ongoing malaise has contributed to that. So I dropped more than I should have on habenero smoked salmon, olives, fresh bean and corn salsa and a few other items. To be honest, a dinner like that at a restaurant would have easily been at least double by the time we added in the wine and the really decadent dessert. (The latter was for the guys. I stuck with my sugar-free Fudgecicle.)

I did spend a bit of time researching a Wikipedia article, but not a lot.

I hate to say it, but I really needed to take a lot of the day off. There are some other things going on; perhaps I'll talk about them tomorrow. I'm sure it will be good for me to write about it. Right now I really need a break. So in the meantime you can put up with my piffle. Nor not.
