Ye just might be if our Attorney General gets his way. It looks very much as though our government would like to take our assets and send us to prison for fair use.
I say this as a published (and paid) author who holds a copyright or two of her own: Back off. Sure, go after the folks who knowingly sell pirated movies and software. But to take the assets of someone who downloaded a song? WTF?
It's time our lawmakers and courts got down to defining fair use in a way that protects average folks. But then, we don't pay big money to lobbyists. We are SO screwed.
Pass the rum, me hearties. We all be pirates one day.
