And now for another short break...

... at least this break is for technical reasons.

I'll keep the geekspeak to a minimum. Suffice it to say that it appears that my copy of the operating system has some corrupt files somewhere. Either that, or the new hard drive is acting up. I hope it's the former! How did we determine this? We installed the OS on a drive that I'll be using as a backup drive. I figured I'd install the OS but not activate the copy. The two devices I've been wailing and gnashing teeth over for months installed without a hitch. So far there are no troublesome lockups. I'm going to let it run overnight and see what happens.

I've backed up my files, but the overnight wait is to ensure that I haven't forgotten anything. I've done this so often lately that it's second nature, which means I'll miss something important.

So what this means is that I have to spend a mere hour or two wiping the drive and re-installing the operating system. That's the easy part. Next I get to re-install hardware and software. That, like inventing the CandyGram, is the hard part.

I'll have my notebook PC online so I'll be able to get e-mail and may perhaps do some blogging as I wait for things to load. I'm also looking forward to playing around with the new Zooomr tomorrow. I hope their transition goes smoothly.

I'm going to take an early bed. When I return I'll put together a more geeky post for those of you that like those sorts of details.

Cue the elevator music...

Sorry your still having computer woes. I'm looking forward to seeing how the new Zooomr takes shape. I've gone with Flickr but it's always worth keeping an eye on another service.
