Gloomy Day

Fresh when it gets here from Julie Barrett

Yep, another rainy day. Looks like the worst of it will be to the north, but we're getting plenty of clouds and drizzle. I can't argue with 77F at this time of day in September, though - even if the humidity is at 77%. The long-range forecast calls for us to get clobbered with rain this weekend from the hurricane. I won't hold my breath.

Slept better last night, but had odd dreams. Didn't take anything stronger than my evening antihistamine last night. Oddest dream: The cover for Two of the Deadliest showed up on Amazon, and along with it, a review from someone who had seen an ARC. (No, there is no cover up, and I suspect it's early for review copies to go out.) The cover was fugly. I tried to like it, but the art consisted of the title and some clip art graphic that had nothing to do with the contents of the book. The review consisted of a short paragraph and four lists: The outstanding stories, the stories that were very good, the stories that were okay, and those that sucked beets through a sock. My story didn't show up on the first or last list, but as I tried to find it on the other two lists a hail storm hit and a hailstone the size of a basketball crashed through the window.

I told you it was an odd dream. It wasn't a true nightmare because my story didn't show up on the sucky list. ;-)

Went bowling this morning. Shot a 561. It's a little odd shooting a 178 and still having the lowest score on the team. Heck, it's a little odd for me just being on this team. Don't get me wrong: they're very nice people. I'd bowled with one of the team members on a summer league years ago. It was my first league in years and she was very patient with the newbie who had set a 72 average. I'm just not used to being on the team with all the hot bowlers. I think it'll do me some good. Give me something to shoot for, if you'll pardon the pun.

I think I discovered what's going on with my game at night. To be fair, a teammate pointed out that I wasn't throwing the ball as hard as I had been. So I guess I just have to keep up enough energy to throw a faster ball. Easier said than done, I'm sure. On the other hand, if I can do that perhaps I'll be so dead tired tonight that I'll be able to fall into bed and zonk out.

Famous last words.

Better get going. I have more writing to do yet.
