Spring, and especially Easter, is a time of renewal, of new life after a time of darkness and decay (think of the long nights, and all those fallen leaves!). What is new - or renewed in your life this spring?
I just renewed the patio last weekend, replacing dead annuals with new, and cleaning. Not that you can tell today that it's been cleaned, but I did do it! I enjoy the patio when the weather is good. We eat evening meals when the temperature is tolerable, and I like to go out and write in the mornings before it gets very hot. Not that I can do that now with the air quality the way it is...
Extra Credit Is spring cleaning part of your family's annual routine?
I used to do some cleaning over Spring Break, weather permitting. (Not gonna clean the windows when it's raining!) These days I just do it when I can fit it in - or when I'm too stuck on my writing to do anything else. Gee, I should have a spotless house, but I don't. ;-)
Earlier in the week I'd planned to catch up on a few cleaning tasks today, but the air was so bad yesterday that I was up half the night. Instead, I decided to just shut up the house and catch up on a few loose ends, but events conspired against me. When I watered the plants in the living room this morning I noticed that the fountain wasn't running. This meant I had to haul it into the kitchen, drain it, and troubleshoot the pump. Fortunately, it just needed its periodic cleaning. While I was at it, it seemed a good time to clean around the fireplace. I didn't clean IN the fireplace, but since I don't use it there will only be a little dust and possibly one or two leaves inside. I'll take care of that at another time. Still, I moved furniture and did vacuuming, and kicked up a serious amount of dust - something I had not intended to do at all.
I'm done for the day.

But John has been planting annuals. I hope the allergens subside soon; but judging from what's going on here, don't count on it!
