You may (or may not) be familiar with P. N. Elrod, author of The Vampire Files series of books. I've had a couple of stories in anthologies that she's edited. If you are a fan and you can't wait for the next book in September, she's got something to tide you over: A limited edition printing of a story featuring Jack Fleming and Jonathan Barrett.
It's called The Devil You Know, and you can read an excerpt and pre-order a signed, numbered copy on her site.
All three of you who follow this blog on a regular basis know that I've been making somewhat oblique references to a friend's self-publishing project. This is it. Pat is doing it right. She's hooked up with a printer who knows his stuff, and she had Jamie Murray do the cover art. Of course, Pat has a large fan base, and should have no problems selling this run.
One word of warning: The book contains spoilers for Bloodcircle, the third book in the series. Well, two words of warning. Oh, hell. Amongst the words of warning, please keep in mind that the excerpt is uncorrected text. And she stops it just at the point where you'll find yourself saying, "aaaaaahhhhh!" She's good at that.
Disclaimers: Pat is an old friend of mine. And she named Johnathan Barrett after - well, you go read it. It's not entirely what you think.
Anyway, if the schedule at the printer holds up, this baby should be ready to ship in the middle of the month. ::Checks calendar:: By golly, it's about that time, isn't it?
