Do you think that the voyages of Christopher Columbus still merit a national holiday? Why or why not? And if not, what holiday would you propose to replace it?
I'm not inclined to believe this is a good reason for a national holiday. Yet, I'm not too keen on the idea of tossing out a replacement holiday. In these times fraught with division, it seems a safe bet that such a discussion would turn into an all-out brawl. Perhaps we should celebrate the occasion in this time-honored tradition:
Extra Credit: Did you even get Columbus Day off from work or school this year?
My boss is a cruel taskmistress. Her husband is at work and her son is at school, so no, I don't get the day off.
Wait a minute. I'm the boss.
It's just another day. So much so that it wasn't until 1:00 this afternoon that I realized that there would be no mail delivery today. So much for my main form of exercise, the Mailbox Sprint.

Sorry your boss was so oblivious to the possibility of leisure! ;)
