Monday Mumblings Has A Low-Key Christmas

Well, sort of. Paul and I had exchanged gifts earlier, so most everything under the tree was for Chris. And he bought Paul and I each a book. He found me a literary mashup of "Great Expectations." With werewolves. Looks interesting. We then took Christmas to my mother's place. I baked the ham and my brother and his wife put together all of the side dishes. There was one minor culinary disaster as the spiral-sliced ham turned out to be spiral-indented. I ended up sawing through layers of the stuff and the slices looked terrible. Oh, well. At least it tasted good, and on the grand scale of culinary disasters, that's really nothing major.

Came home and settled in for the Doctor Who Christmas Special. Ah, wonderful stuff. Moffat knows just which heartstrings to tug. I won't spoil it for you if you haven't seen it.

Spent most of last week sewing and cooking. More sewing is in my future, along with some web stuff. Today I plan to relax. I've been pushing myself this month and it's time to have some "me" time. (To the sewing client, if you happen to be reading this: I'm working on a muslin mock-up of the garment in question and will send you pics for approval before I go buy fabric. I also need to know how much fabric this will require, and need the mock-up so I'll know. Ah, the joy of drafting patterns!)

It's pushing 11 and I'm still in the bathrobe. I said this was a day to relax, dang it! Cooking lunch in the bathrobe is right out. And going out to lunch in the bathrobe only works for Arthur Dent. Guess that means it's time to schlep down the hall and find some clothing. Oh, and it's laundry day. I'd postpone it a day, but I managed to get all but one pair of jeans in a very messy state from the cooking. Yeah, I did wear an apron. Put a klutz in the kitchen, and mess happens.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday. Blogging may continue to be sporadic as I go enjoy mine!
