E-mail is still messed up, and I'm working on a hairy database thing on another site, but here's a quick explanation of RSS:
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. What this allows you to do is use an RSS reader to grab feeds from web sites. You've probably seen buttons like the two on the side at other sites. What happens is that every time I update the journal entry, the RSS feed updates.
Now the cool/tricky bit happens depending on what software you use to read RSS feeds. If you use FeedBlitz, you'll get something in your mailbox once a day that shows the feeds you've subscribed to. If you use Mozilla mail, you can add the URL for our feed to the News and Blogs section. Every time you go to that section and press the Get Mail button will get notification of the latest posts to feeds you subscribe to. FeedBurner (linked on left) is a web-based RSS feed reader. If you've never used a feed reader before, you might give it a try.
That's a short explanation. Again, take a look at the FeedBurner feed, and you'll get an idea of what I mean.
