Is that some sort of liquid crystal computer lid, or something else?

No, it's just a sticker, really. I bought a skinning kit at OfficeMax. The kit comes with three "skins" and three test pages. Use a photo of your own, print it to the test page to make sure it'll work, then print it to the skin/sticker. Let it dry for a few minutes before you apply it to the computer. Kinda cool. I wanted to use the Doctor's diary, but I couldn't find a high-res photo and right now I don't have the time to create a graphic of my own.
