Show us something you saw in downtown.

I shot this recently in downtown Plano. Most of the buildings you see there go back to the early 1900s to the 1920s, after the town burned down and fell over several times.
The Fillmore Pub pays homage to the original name of Plano. The town was named in honor of Millard Fillmore, president at the time. The Post Office turned down the name because it was too silly. (Actually, there are conflicting stories on this point.) And so it came to pass that the town's physician looked out over the fields and declared that Plano sure sounded like the Spanish name for plains, and thus the town got its name. (He was a doctor, Jim, not a linguist.)
Below is a detail from the sculpture that was behind me as I shot the above picture:

Karen Funk Blocher said: Early in our relationship, John got me two used T-shirts he found, because the writing on them was suitably weird. One was "Frogette in Bondage" and the other was "Marlborn en Plano" (Marlberg? Malborn? Malmberg? Maybe Malmberg.) As you can see, I don't quite remember that first word, which to me was a nonsense word. But when I met you, I finally knew what the Plano part was. (I kind of thought it was a play on "Plain ol'".
