Another gray, rainy day. We're in Cafe al Bacio, the coffee bar. Someone is whistling a dirge.
But not for long! It was time for the mandatory fun! After a bit of "get up and dance, damn it!" music, our perky cruise director took the microphone to announce that it was time for curling! Not the type you get in the overpriced salon, but "street curling," as played on an inflatable mat. They had a passengers vs. crew game going. It was okay to watch for a bit, but we were hoping for a bit of quiet.
One of the design fails of this ship is that it's hard to escape the noise. If they're not doing something in The Atrium, then there's music or games by the pool. The ship has all of these lovely places to hang out, but few spots to do so in peace. We get that there need to be activities to keep people busy, but do they all have to involve noise? Yes, there were some quiet, crafty activities - on port days.
Lunch seemed "meh." I think the weather had something to do with it. We did have rain for much of the day, meaning there were no seats available by the pool, meaning the chair hogs had taken more than their usual share of seats under shelter. We did eventually find a place to lounge for a bit.
The highlight of the day was a Mixology class. Our bartender was Shreyas (pronounced "say yes") and he showed us the proper way to mix drinks, what ice to use when, and the best types of spirits and mixers for various drinks. We made three drinks, and no, we could not consume them all. It was fun, though.
Dinner was good. We had two waiters and a sommelier. La, ti, and da.
We then took in the show at the Reflection Theater called "Feel the Funk." Not entirely to our tastes, but great energy from the cast.
Tuesday is a sea day at Cozumel. We've been there several times, and this time we have an excursion booked featuring a catamaran ride, snorkeling, and relaxing at a private beach. Should be fun!
