AVOCA
We managed to choose the one partly-sunny day of our visit to Ireland to make the trip to Avoca. Avoca is home to the oldest hand-weavers in Ireland, and the filming location of the BBC series, "Ballykissangel." While there were tour buses available, we decided it would be fun to rent a car. Driving on the left-hand side of the road was an experience, that's for sure. We're glad we did it.
Here are several pictures of the town:
Fitzgerald's is the social heart of the town, and
locals and tourists alike stop in for a pint and some craic.
Chris was very thrilled to actually visit Avoca, and he has a bit of "black stuff" (a Coke) inside.
Paul and Julie relax after their pint. Julie isn't asleep; Chris just snapped
the shutter as she blinked. (Yeah, right!)
Hendley's Store. We ate lunch in the store's cafe which overlooks the river.
SS. Mary & Patrick's Church.
