Roundabouts!

We took all the tubes and trains back to Heathrow and picked up our rental car. Just getting out of the airport was an adventure, not to mention driving on the left.

Our first stop after many wrong turns was Richmond, where “Ted Lasso” was filmed. We enjoyed some food at the Princes Head, took the obligatory pictures, then headed off to Oxford.

This is a lovely city. The next turn doesn’t start until October, so a lot of colleges were closed to visitors. We did get to see the courtyard at the Bodleian and took lots of pictures.

Dinner was at the Swan and Castle (a chain-owned pub catering to students on a budget) and I was pleasantly surprised to get a decent Japanese curry.

We stayed the night at a Courtyard by Marriott that had one of the best “out the window” views ever of a small creek and a waterwheel. After years of rooms with views overlooking the parking garage or HVAC equipment, it was refreshing.
