Sladen played Sarah Jane Smith, one of the most popular companions during the Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker years of Doctor Who. The BBC brought the character back in 2007 for a children's series.
There's a saying that you bond with the first Doctor you see. I wonder if that's true for companions? If so, I bonded with Sarah Jane Smith.
