Damn and blast! This article got eaten in the Great Database Glitch of '06.

after doing the "lock the keys in the car" twice to myself i got one of those tiny magnetic boxes and put a spare key in it under the bumper.. hey.. well at 75.00 for a locksmith to come the 5.00 key sounded real reasonable!

Have a cheap, flat, thin, no-frills, no plastic handle, duplicate key made and put in your wallet. It will open the doors/trunk. Lacking the key chip to start the car is of no concern for the more common case of locking the real key within the car.

I've got one that actually fits in a credit card slot in the wallet - didn't do me much good the time I locked my purse in the car. See, I just can't win!
