Hard to see in this picture, but the rain is changing over to snow. That's ice on the frosted glass table (does that make it double-frosted glass?) and snow on the slide and tree branches.
Most local schools, churches, and colleges have called off evening events. Chris is glad that he doesn't have to go to choir. Now he has to decide whether or not to go bowl. That's just a couple of miles away, and it will still be daylight and during rush hour if he leaves - should he decide to go. Can't blame him if he stays home.
