Lightning Achievement Unlocked!
I've been hoping for years to get a lightning photo. Any photo would do - I just wanted to capture a lightning bolt.
Tonight was the night. And I'm glad I wasn't out for perfection or I'd never have gotten the shot. I was in the car at a traffic light with my cell phone. So yes, it's not the best quality, but I'm really happy to have done it!

Snow Day

The Big Melt
The temperature on the front porch thermometer just now hit 32F, so I think we'll get some sustained temperatures above freezing today. At any rate, we're seeing sunshine for the first time in days, and that's contributing to substantial ice melt.
Paul ventured to the office today, and after the lunch hour I plan to go out and grab a few food items.

Ice Storm
Well, the promised ice storm did arrive. We still have power, but there are over 250,000 without. Temperature on the front porch right now is 26.2F, and although the precipitation has stopped, the roads are going to freeze over again once traffic lets up. At least at this point the precipitation for tomorrow night is out of the forecast, and it should get into the upper 30's on Sunday. Tonight, though: 16F. Brrr!

We had some interesting weather blow through North Texas today. And no, I didn't get a thing done at all, between snapping pictures, watching the radar, and calling relatives.

Monday Mumblings Watches The Storms Roll In
Looks like our first serious round of storms for the spring is on the way. This view to the northwest from the side of the house was taken just a few minutes ago:
Still a mixture of dark clouds and sunshine. Yet, while there has been a report of a tornado in Grapevine (that would be in the DFW Airport area for those not from around these here...
