Last week I joined the Round Robin Photo Challenges. This week's topic is Super Model. I am no model. In fact, I bought a dress form so it can "model" cloaks for me:
I named my model Honoria Glossop, after a character in the Wodehouse books. Like her namesake, she sounds like a beautiful thing, but is, well ... difficult. Her "head" is a wig stand, and I've been known to have her wear sunglasses, Mardi Gras beads, and/or leis for pictures.
But that's not what I'd even planned to show today. This is a model Paul built back in 1994 of the handlink used on Quantum Leap:
Like Karen, we were deeply into the show. I found these translucent Lego-type blocks at a craft store, and he built the handlink. It's wired with flashing lights (a set of T-shirt lights from a craft store) and a sound chip. Yes, if you whack it on the side it makes authentic handlink noises.
This is what it looks like when it's lighted:
These aren't the best pictures, I'm afraid. I didn't have time to pull out a light kit and do some proper shots. But I did find this picture taken at the convention:
Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell you recognize, I'm sure. That's Chris, age 4, with his back to the camera, and me with a hand on his back. He was very close to the edge of the stage.
(I'm sorry but I don't know the name of the photographer. If someone does, please let me know so I can post proper credit.)
