Long couple of days here at the Manor, and I'm looking forward to getting some sleep this weekend.

We had a 3.0 earthquake last night. It was far enough away that I didn't feel it. If I did, I probably would have thought it was the road construction. To be fair, there probably wasn't anything to feel here as the epicenter was in Grand Prairie. Actually we had two quakes last night. The other was in Irving. That's very unusual. There's apparently a very old fault that runs through the area. I had no idea. My one brush with a quake was an aftershock a month after the Northridge quake. I woke up, but I never felt the shake and didn't know until heard about it on the radio that that had been an aftershock.

Gosh, I lead such an exciting life.

Most of the road equipment moved down the street, but I have a sneaking suspicion that sometime next week they'll be in front of the house. I can't wait.

Oh, yes, I can.

Yesterday the city shut the water off to replace a valve. They were supposed to restore service at 4:00. Time ticked by. No water. Finally about 6:30 the construction crews started to pack up. Chris went and flagged down a guy who told him he had no idea when the water would be back on. A neighbor and I flagged down a passing water truck. The two guys inside didn't seem terribly concerned. The driver told us in between puffs on his cigarette (and I'm paying insurance on that truck!) that they'd run into a little bit of a problem and didn't know when they'd get the water back on.

Of course, once we decided to go out for some water so that we could use the en suite facilities here at the Manor, they restored service. Go figure.

Paul took a vacation day today. He'd planned this a while back - all part of the "use it or lose it" plan. We had lunch down at the Fillmore Pub, which was decorated for Halloween. Our waitress was dressed as Sarah Palin. Very scary, boys and girls.

We've had a grand total of four groups of Trick-or-Treaters tonight. That shatters last year's record of three.

Time to turn off the porch light and crawl into bed. Yes, I do lead an exciting life.

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you have a good weekend.
