I Never Could Get The Hang of Thursdays

(Quote, of course, from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.)

I have a load of stuff to do and no energy with which to do it. If you happened to get the license number of the truck that ran me down overnight, please report it to the proper authorities.

Oh, I woke up with enough energy to get a couple of pressing pieces of business out of the way.

Now I've the aforementioned story staring me in the face. I did do some major edits the other day, and yet, it still has problems. I'm at the point where I need to decide to slog through or set it aside and take it up again much later or, perhaps, never. Hey, it happens. But right now The Impossible Dream is on the media player, so that might give you an idea of which way I'm leaning...

Speaking of media players, I've run into a nasty problem (endemic to some installations of Windows, but never a problem for me until this week) with my speakers. It's all software based. I can open the speaker properties, change the default format, dismiss a message warning me that another program is using the speakers, and carry on. But I've done that a multitude of times today. I'm not sure what's going on, but I spent an hour on it and that's all I want to devote today. But the odd thing is, the speakers go out when I go forward or backward in a track in Media Player. Odd.

Presently Windows Media Player is indexing all of my music. I don't think it should take quite this long, but that's why it's beta software, I guess. And that's what I get for whining: Everything is now indexed. And there was much rejoicing.

Back to work.
