I ache, therefore I am

I knew this morning was going to be rough, even after the Ibuprofen. I couldn't make my average all morning. My muscles ache from all the work I've done in the home office over the past week. I accepted a bad day of bowling as a consequence.

But tonight was another story. I'd taken it easy this afternoon. Drove to the bowling alley and was nearly hit twice by people who thought it would be just fine and dandy to make a left turn while I was legally in the intersection. (That happened at lunch as well. Is my car suddenly invisible?) So I got to the bowling alley and there was this guy standing on the sidewalk, smoking a cigarette, blocking the way to the entrance. No problem, I thought. I'd just go down into the drive and walk around. I moved my bag down, stepped on a pebble and completely lost my balance, coming down hard on my knees. The guy asked if I was okay. "No, I am not," I replied. He went back to his cigarette while I stumbled to my feet. I was on the verge of tears by the time I made it to our table.

I got one practice ball off and called it good. Or bad, depending on your point of view.

Then I shot a 246.

I couldn't even make my average the other games. If I had, I'd probably have shot a 600 series. Ouch.

So here I sit, nursing bruises. I'm afraid to look at my right kneecap.

Tomorrow I have one computer to hook up and desk work scheduled for the rest of the day. I'll probably be too achy to do much more.

Yes, a vintage whine, but it felt good to moan a bit.
