Weekend Assignment: Keep Me Warm!

Fresh when it gets here from Julie Barrett

Even in Tucson, things can get a bit chilly on December nights. What is your favorite way to keep warm?

Sometimes procrastination is a good thing. I've been swamped this week, but I woke up to this:

We had about a quarter of an inch of snow sticking to the ground before it stopped. It never got below 35F, so there was no danger of the roads freezing.

This is the first cold snap we've had this fall. Last night a cold rain fell, and I was simply cold and miserable. About 7:30 last night I gave up and settled in bed under the electric blanket with a book. My arms were chilly, but that was the price I paid to keep the rest of my body warm. This was one time I could have stood to have a few hot flashes, but nooooo!

Extra Credit: What is the temperature setting on your thermostat?

The thermostat itself is generally set to 2-3 degrees warmer than it should be. It's set at 71 and my office is at 69 - which is a bit warmer than the living room. The reason is that the thermostat is in the hallway across from the heater closet - a spot warmer than the rest of the house. I don't like it to get much below 68 in the winter as my lungs start to feel it.

So there you are. Now it's time for me to venture back out into the cold!

We're supposed to have our first hard freeze of the season tonight, but you got actual snow! That's impressive. Be warm!
