Hat Blocks And Sewing Machines
This morning I did one of my thrift store runs. I try to hit a couple at a time during the week so I don't waste an entire day. Most of the time I walk out empty-handed. The idea is to get a feel for what's there so I can easily spot new stuff the next visit.
Goodwill was a big fat zilch.
The Thrift Store (that's what it's called, and they support a fine charity) had some interesting items:

Sewing Machine Snobs
Imagine walking into the big box home improvement store for a bit for your Black and Decker drill. The only bits you find are by Ryobi, but they're standard bits, so you grab one off of the pegboard and take it to the front. What does the checker do?

The dress was $13! My next purchase was a dress for about $5. It was huge, bu...

Improved Dress Form
I mentioned in a previous entry that I'd outline what I'd done to improve my dress form. I took the time to do a couple of tweaks and shoot a picture today:
Meet Honoria Glossop, if you haven't done so previously. She's a vintage dress form I picked up some years ago. Knowing now what I d...

Adventures in Corsetry
So I decided to try my hand at corset making. I selected the Butterick B4254. There were two reasons for this. One, I liked the look of View C, and two, Hancock Fabrics had all Butterick patterns on sale for 99 cents the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
I wanted a garment to wear over clothing to go with the Steampunk outfit I wore at FenCon earlier this year. (I thought I had a picture in the blog a...
