New(ish) Vintage(y) Dress!

Fresh when it gets here from Julie Barrett

I've been a bit busy at the sewing machine this week. I decided it was time to do something for me. When I hit the local thrift store on Tuesday I found this amazing dress:

I deliberately adjusted this in Photoshop so you could see the detail.

The dress was $13! My next purchase was a dress for about $5. It was huge, but I only bought it for the fringe. Of course, I immediately sanitized everything when I got home, forgetting what would happen to the fringe:

Uh, oops. I blame that misstep on lingering crud.

I also took apart a satin skirt I'd bought some time ago with a view to taking it apart and doing something else. Along with the detangled fringe, I got a nice little stole for this outfit:

Again, I played with the exposure on this one.

I like the stole, but what I think I'd really like is a period-style jacket. I have something that almost works, but it's too blingy with silver sequins. I think I can make a pattern from it and adjust it a bit to get the type of jacket I'd like to have.

I think it will also pair nicely with a cloche hat I have, particularly if I make a new hatband out of some of the leftover satin.

Not bad for twenty bucks, eh?
