Do take to heart the suggestion to arrive hours early for your flights to allow security clearance time. You won't need it if everything is copacetic, but even one cross-eyed look from a TSA employee will result in an hour or two of annoying questions, strip-searches and delays.
If you haven't done a FULL back-up of your laptop, do not even consider taking it along. You have a better than 50% chance of being pulled from line and some ham-fisted baboon copy and/or destroy the hard drive in a futile search for incriminating signs of terrorist activities. Trust me when I tell you they have no sense of humor in the least (Science fiction authors with long hair and beards are particularly suspect).
Have a wonderful, safe trip.
