Love Field

I suppose most people know about Love Field in Dallas. Supplanted by DFW Airport 40 years ago, Love is now the "other airport." But there was a time when it was a modern, bustling center of aviation traffic. It earned a place in history as the last airport where JFK landed, and where LBJ was sworn in aboard Air Force One. In fact, Air Force One often lands at Love when the president visits Dallas.

But I said modern and bustling, didn't I? Check this out:

They were installed in 1958, making Love the first airport with these walkways.

Love Field has been undergoing extensive renovation and now hosts a spectacular public art program. The pictures at the site show some new art along with many pieces from the airport that have been preserved. Check out the floor mural in the ticket areea.
