Change of Plans, and Pictures!

Fresh when it gets here from Julie Barrett

My cunning plans for today went south last night when I managed to tweak a knee at bowling. I'm going to be fine, but it seemed a good idea to NOT do all the walking I'd had planned today. Things worked out. Instead, I stayed home and worked on a new (to me) technique for hand tinting pictures. The work I did isn't good enough to show yet, but I can show you a few pictures I shot this afternoon when the wind died down and the sun came out briefly:

Sexy Pistil

Look at that sexy pistil, would you? That's part of an enormous hibiscus blossom that will probably drop off overnight. They don't last long, but when they're in full bloom, they're lovely.

Apricots, Soon

Look at these baby apricots. They're already getting their fuzz. I'm sure the birds will get them before I do. It always works out that way.

Hosta Attack

And I found this bug attacking a hosta plant today. One of two, actually, I shook them off, but they're probably back now, munching holes in the plant as I type.

So what's new on the writing front? Still working on a radio play. I'd like to get it out of the way before the end of the month, but it's not going in the direction I thought it would. I'd heave a sigh, but sometimes these derailments have a way of working out. So we'll see.

Now it's time to head off to bed and book.
