A Hail of a Storm

Fresh when it gets here from Julie Barrett
Thursday, April 14, 2011

Ah, Spring in North Texas! We've just had a line of very strong thunderstorms pass through here with some hail.

This, of course, was preceded by the ritual sounding of the tornado sirens and the Creepy, Disembodied Voice of Doom (TM). That's a "feature" of our city siren system. They also have the ability to make announcements that can be heard all over the city. On the first Wednesday of the month it's "test...test..." sometimes followed by some muttering. Tonight it was "take cover...take cover..."

Right now it appears that the only damage was a tipped-over flower pot on the patio. We'll take another look in the morning. But if that's all we get, not bad.

We're still under a severe thunderstorm warning for the next 45 minutes, but it's pretty much moved on from this neck of the woods.

And to think I was almost asleep before the sirens went off...
