Down the (Killer) Rabbit Research Hole: In the Steps of Sherlock Holmes
You know how it goes when you look up one thing and it takes you off on an entirely different tangent. This week's tangent has been looking at part of the considerable London stomping grounds of Sherlock Holmes. I'm starting at the pub, which is where one should start (or end) an adventure.
This is a vacation snap of the Sh...

X-Rated, But Family Friendly
Today Twitter switched their brand to X. I believe this to be a mistake, but then, I'm not a billionaire with money to waste on a social network. I am a mere technoserf who shouldn't be bothered to have an opinion.
Excuse me for having one.
And yet, this is my journal, and I'll opine if I want to! So there, X!
My two readers will notice the ever-growing sidebar (or bottom block if you're on a mobile device) of socia...

Oh, boy! I'm on a podcast!
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Matt Dale for the Quantum Leap Podcast. Some (or both) of my readers may know that back in the day I wrote Quantum Leap A-Z, a sort of concordance for the series. This is the topic of the podcast.
Enjoy me in my dorky glory!

It's The Big Year-End Wrap-Up!
Well, 2021 was a year.
Oh, you want more, do you?
This will very likely be the first business year that I have not turned a profit. We're talking 30+ years, so on one hand, it's a good track record. On the other, I can't help but be disappointed. I know. I shouldn't be. It's a let-down at the very least, considering how hard I've been pushing to make a go of things.
But 2021 was an odd year in so many respects. ...

Monday Mumblings Has a Sinus Explosion
It's a no-pollen day here, but my sinuses are calling fake news.
You read the first part right. A zero pollen day in North Texas. There's still a fairly significant fungus count, which is probably the thing that's making the sinuses go crazy. I shall spare you the description of the crazy. You're welcome.
Had a good - if kind of crazy - weekend. Paul took Friday off (so no entry here) and we took Daenerys to the vet for a med checkup. She's proba...

How You Can Prevent the Spread of Misinformation on Social Media
Hey, it's easy to sit back and read the reports of Facebook profiting on misinformation and our sense of outrage, shrug our shoulders, and say "so what?"
Are the profiting? Are they promoting it? I haven't seen solid proof. Yet, my timelines are filled with misinformation. Where does it come from? My friends, who share.
Hey, I love y'all, which is why I'm being tough and demanding you take responsibility for what you share.
